The Effect of Memrise Application on Students’ Listening Skill

Abstract


This research presents the Effect of Memrise Application on Students’ Listening Skill (An Experimental Research at the Second Grade of SMK Negeri 03 Bombana). This research design is a Quasi-Experimental using a non-equivalent control group design. The variables of this study consisted of two variables, namely Memrise application as the independent variable and students’ listening skill as the dependent variable. The samples in this study were TKJ A and TKJ B students of SMK Negeri 03 Bombana. Class TKJ A consists of 20 students consisting of 11 boys and 9 girls, and class TKJ B consists of 18 students consisting of 11 boys and 7 girls. This research used instruments in the form of tests consisting of pre-test and post-test. The data collection techniques in this study were pre-test, treatment, and post-test. It was found that there was an Effect of Memrise Application in Teaching Listening Skill to Grade II Students of SMK Negeri 03 Bombana. This can be seen from the Post-test mean score (84.35) which is higher than the pre-test mean score (52.65) in the experimental class. The results showed that the significance value (2-tailed) 0.044 < 0.05 indicates a significant difference between the initial variable and the final variable. The alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected.
